Deeper Questions

What do you do at IOI?

I am a Senior Technical Gameplay Animator on Project 007. I help to create animations for the characters in our project, and getting those animations working correctly and looking great in the final game.

Can you tell us more about yourself?

I am originally from South Africa and have been working in game development since 2000. I have worked at a number of studios of different size before joining IOI for Hitman Absolution.

What's your daily source of inspiration?

The game development magicians that I have the pleasure of working with every day at IOI. There is never a shortage of fresh ideas to inspire at work each day.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

Game development is a unique mix of creativity and technology that isn’t very common in other industries. This mix of ideas allows for a kind of creativity that is always fresh and keeps me passionate about what I do.

What projects do you work on outside of work?

When I find time, I like to write and illustrate children’s books.

What's your most memorable IOI moment?

Years ago, we had a party at IOI that involved playing laser tag around the offices. It was a lot of fun and with a company full of competitive gamers the level of competition was fierce. So fierce, that I think a few people went home from that party with bruises from trying out their best John Woo moves with the laser guns.

What's the best bit of advice you've ever been given?

“Come and work in Denmark and see how you like it.” I’m still in Denmark many years later, many more than I originally thought, and am still very happy to be here.
