Quick Questions

PC or console

Console.

Go-to karaoke song

I can’t say I have one but I’m leaning towards Common People by Pulp.

Favorite HITMAN location?

I have many favorite missions, but my favorite map would be Whittleton Creek. Breaking into these quaint suburban homes and going through people’s dirty laundry is just such a mischievous fantasy.

Meal that reminds you of childhood

Fried fish fillet with remoulade.

What's your secret superpower?

I have been told I’m a robot.

Most and least favorite items on your desk

Most favorite: my Lego Lunar Lander. Least favorite: A stack of outdated business cards that I feel guilty about throwing out.

Something you wish you knew more about

Economics. But it’s never gonna happen.

Recommend three books, games or movies

Three books:
In the spirit of making a Bond game, I recommend three classic spy thrillers:
1. Torn Curtain (Alfred Hitchcock, 1966)
2. Three Days of The Condor (Sydney Pollack, 1975)
3. Where Eagles Dare (Brian G. Hutton, 1968)

Deeper Questions

What do you do at IOI?

I’m a Senior Writer on Project 007. I was the Main Writer on the Hitman WoA trilogy from beginning to end and have also spent quite a bit of time in Incubation, developing new IPs. I greatly enjoy the writing process (you don’t produce 2000 pages of dialogue if you don’t), but over the years my main interest has shifted towards high level story development and structure, worldbuilding etc.

Can you tell us more about yourself?

I live in Vesterbro with my girlfriend and two kids of 1 and 3. Before I joined IOI, I made music videos and worked for a local indie label. Once upon a time I studied law, but seeing Unbreakable at the movies, I got so excited that I quit and signed up for film- and media science instead. I figure it’s probably for the best.

What's your daily source of inspiration?

Non-fiction books, podcasts, and video essays especially about cognitive psychology, cosmology, mythology, and the storytelling craft. I enjoy stuff like You Are Not So Smart, Kurzgesagt, Lessons from The Screenplay, The Closer Look etc. I don’t have time to read/play/watch as many books/games/films as I used to, but I try to stay sharp with audiobooks.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

I think storytelling is basically a noble pursuit because, occasionally, you get to inspire people. Hopefully to think and reflect but, even better, inspire them to create stories themselves. At least I love it when that happens to me. I am passionate about writing for games because the language and rules of interactive storytelling are not completely set in stone compared to film, so you still get to feel a little bit like you’re inventing the wheel. Plus, it’s so damn difficult.

What projects do you work on outside of work?

I have little spare time atm, but I do have a couple of film treatments and screenplays in circulation, and I recently finished a trilogy of illustrated fantasy novels called “Fall of Gods” which Disney may eventually get around to turning into a TV-series (but after five years of stringing us along, I have stopped holding my breath).

What's your most memorable IOI moment?

After ten years there have been many. But pitching our vision for Project 007 to EON and getting a private tour of the “No Time to Die” set was pretty cool.

What's the best bit of advice you've ever been given?

I seem to be drawing a blank, so instead I give you my favorite piece of wisdom: “The less you know, the less you think there is TO know”. And also: “Never slap a man who’s chewing tobacco”.
